Put all the diapers to washing mashine and run soak cycle with cold water without adding soap. Then wash in hot water with high water level on normal or heavy duty cycle. You might use non chlorine bleach sometimes instead. On heavy stains you can use a little bet of Oxy-Clean, put it directly on stains before washing. Rinse twice in cold water. Make sure that water is clean from soap. Adding 1/4 to 1/2 cup of distilled vinegar help to prevent ammonia buildup. Dry diapers in dryer on hot or outside on a sun. If diaper leaks... Make sure the diaper is completely covered with diaper cover. If leakage is around the leg openings, and diaper itself is not really wet. Not proper fit of diaper or cover can cause it. They are strong enough to keep poop and yet very soft to skin.  Stripping diapers. If diapers begin to smell funky, or do not absorb well enough, or accidently were washed with fabric softener, if you have hard well water or used diaper rush cream without liner - diapers will need to be stripped.
